Over the course of this semester, students will create art using  the eight studio habits of mind, while following the National Core Art Anchor Standards. Our projects will allow students to explore the creative process, improve collaborative partnership through group critics and develop communication skills via group discussion and reflective writing. We will concentrate on the elements of art and principles of design, art history movements, contemporary and traditional artists, while working with a variety of media.

Students will….

  • Generate original artistic ideas and work for projects.
  • Organize thinking through planning first, refine ideas second, and completing projects last.
  • Be expected to analyze, interpret, and select artistic works of art.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Develop craftsmanship and refine artistic work for presentation.
  • Interpret intent and meaning in artistic work.
  • Synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art.
  • Relate artistic ideas and works with societal, cultural, and historic context to deepen understanding
